TGIFF's 3rd Annual Food Collection was a resounding success. We initiated this collection to assist The Food Pantry which provides food assistance to low-income & homeless families in Bucks County. Last month the Penndel food pantry alone served over 2,000 individuals – more than half of them children! Though we usually think of the winter holidays as a time to donate, hunger never takes a holiday. The summer months are especially hard for local food pantries as donations often come to a screeching halt & hungry kids are home.
By asking our neighbors & local businesses to assist us in the collection of kid-friendly non-perishable foods TGIFF delivered a whopping 344 lbs of groceries! Way to go TGIFF!
Some of the items donated: Mac & Cheese, Cereals, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Canned Fruits & Veggies, Soups, Pastas, Spaghetti Sauce, Snacks, Baking Products, Juice & Powdered Drink Mixes.
Our kids helped carry, weigh the groceries and stock the shelves taking some of the burden off of the pantry volunteers.
We look forward to donating again next year!
